Ward dismisses 'tired' talk

Carlisle United manager John Ward has brushed aside suggestions that his side has run out of steam in the vital last few weeks of the season.

United's promotion push has stalled after a run of only one win in five matches, but Ward still believes his side has enough quality and character to win a place in the Championship.

He told the News & Star: "If we had been tired we wouldn't have come back with two goals in 15 minutes against Yeovil.

"We wouldn't have stayed the distance with Swansea and we wouldn't have gone toe-to-toe with Leeds in the way that we did last weekend.

"This group is fine. It's not the biggest squad compared with some of the others in the top six, but it's as tough and determined and as skilful as any of them. With three games to go in three weeks, they'll be fine."
