Ward brings Dobie back
24 Jan 2008 - 07:15:59
Carlisle United manager John Ward has brought Scott Dobie back to the club after Nottingham Forest agreed to allow the striker to return to Brunton Park.
The 29-year-old, who scored 24 goals in 136 appearances for the Cumbrians in his first spell with the club, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with United.
Ward told the club's official website: "He's got the experience to cover and help out with a relatively young front line of Joe Garner and Danny Graham, who do exceptionally well.
"In addition to that, Danny Carlton has just come out of non-league, so he adds a bit of experience up there.
"Scott knows the level, he knows the football club and he wants to get his career rolling again.
"He's been forgotten a little bit in recent years and his previous career has gone past. He wants to push on again now, and I'm happy to bring him in and give him that opportunity."
Dobie played for West Brom and Millwall before joining Forest in February 2005 in a £525,000 deal, but struggled to establish himself at the City Ground, scoring only three goals in 20 League starts in his three years at the club.
