U's striker holds goalkeeper key

U's boss Paul Lambert is holding talks with former Manchester United trainee Williams, 26, after allowing fellow goalkeeper Dean Gerken to join Bristol City earlier this week. But Carlisle manager Greg Abbott is believed to want a striker as part of the deal with Blues frontman Danny Graham expected to join Watford. And Vernon, who has fallen down the pecking order at Colchester, fits the bill for Abbott, who wants a deal in place as soon as possible. Abbott told the News & Star Sport "Transfers can go on for too long and they can become unsettling for the personnel involved. "I am anxious to get it resolved soon - and I am doing everything I can to get the best possible deal for Carlisle United."
