Thirlwell set to appeal
02 Apr 2007 - 11:35:17
Carlisle United manager Neil McDonald is set to lodge an appeal against Paul Thirlwell's controversial red card in the victory at Tranmere Rovers.
The 27-year-old was dismissed for his challenge on Tranmere substitute Calvin Zola in the closing stages at Prenton Park, a decision that infuriated McDonald.
"On looking at the video it does look like a decision that we can query," he told the club's official website.
"Paul has gone for the ball and the player has rolled over his hip.
"We'll speak to the Referee's Association on Monday morning, see what it is we have to do and we'll definitely lodge the appeal."
