Raven return boosts Cumbrians

Carlisle United boss Neil McDonald has hailed the return to fitness of summer signing David Raven.

The 21-year-old returned after a month on the sidelines due to a groin injury to show up well at right-back in the 2-0 loss at Gillingham and the 1-1 draw with Rotherham.

McDonald told the News & Star: "David has got back to his form straight away and I'm well chuffed with him.

"He started off playing really well, but then he got his groin injury. He has been out for a month or so, but he has looked strong since he came back."

Raven joined the Cumbrians in the summer after being released by Liverpool.
