Carlisle United owner Fred Story has blasted the decision to postpone the crucial League One encounter with promotion rivals Nottingham Forest.
Story insists the Brunton Park pitch was playable after industrial heaters were brought in to ensure the surface had fully thawed.
However, local referee Chris Brumwell called the game off on Tuesday lunchtime, to Story's annoyance.
He told the News & Star: "It was perfectly playable. The pitch was as good as it has been for four or five weeks.
"Mike Riley was due to arrive at 4pm. If he had done so, or even if he had turned up earlier, there was no way on earth he could have said the pitch wasn't playable.
"We had the heaters on the areas that needed to be sorted, and they did the job."
