New setback for Thirlwell
24 Oct 2007 - 07:36:57
Carlisle United are set to be without key midfielder Paul Thirlwell for another month due to a calf injury.
The 28-year-old former Derby County and Sunderland schemer has already been sidelined for just over a month, but is still some way off a return to action.
Manager John Ward told the News & Star: "We learned on Thursday it was going to be four weeks for Paul, but we kept it quiet because we wanted to push on for the Gillingham game.
"It's a shame for everybody, but at least now we know what we are faced with. Paul is an experienced young man and we will work very hard to get him back in the first team.
"It's not easy for players who can't play because of injury, but Paul is very important to have around.
"He can play a part in what is happening now, albeit in the background."
