Negative Owls frustrate Cumbrians

Carlisle full-back Frank Simek summed up the home team's frustration at losing 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls frustrated a Carlisle side lacking in creative ideas and played to preserve the 20th-minute lead given to them by Tommy Miller"They got their goal and set up shop. But they came with a game plan and it worked. Our passing was not very good and we didn't play very well," said former Wednesday player Simek. "We never got anything going the entire game and Wednesday's 4-5-1 formation worked very well for them. It was a frustrating game to play in."Manager Gregg Abbott added: "Sometimes you've got to give credit to the opposition. They are a very good side and came here to stop us playing and defended with 10 men behind the ball. They came and did the job."They got the early goal and it supports the system they were playing. We got a lot of basics wrong and couldn't find the quality to break them down."We need a different option which is something we've been looking at to get more width. We looked edgy and our inexperience showed."
