Murphy set for fresh lay-off

Carlisle United defender Peter Murphy has suffered a fresh setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

Murphy, 27, was hoping to be back in contention for a first-team place following a month on the sidelines in the not to distant future.

However, he now faces an uncertain spell on the sidelines following the need for an exploratory operation.

"It is still painful so, at the moment, he is booked in to see his surgeon again at the end of next week," physio Neil Dalton told the club's official website.

"Obviously we are trying to get that brought forward as we want to get to the bottom of this as quickly as we possibly can.

"It is too early to put a definite time frame on recovery and rehabilitation or anything like that as we will have to wait and see what the surgical procedure finds."
