Carlisle United boss Neil McDonald is hoping loan striker Paul Thirlwell will agree to join the club on a permanent basis.
The 27-year-old joined the Cumbrians on a three-month loan deal and, after eight appearances, McDonald has been delighted with the form of the player.
Thirlwell has been told by Rams boss Billy Davies he has no future at Pride Park so McDonald has revealed that he will be looking to keep him on at Brunton Park.
He said: "I'd love to have him but it all depends on whether he wants to stay here.
"I think he's enjoyed himself here and it's all down to what Paul and Derby want to do."
