Carlisle United manager Neil McDonald is hoping to avoid the need to use the loan system too much to boost his squad for the coming campaign.
McDonald has added four players to his Cumbrians ranks already this summer and believes that permanent signings are the way to go.
He told the News & Star: "We used the loan system very well last season, but I don't want to get stuck in a rut where I'm just using loans all the time.
"We will use them sparingly when we can, the most important thing is to sign players permanently.
"It gives them an identity that they have signed for the club, they are Carlisle players and they are 100 per cent committed to the club."
