Krul set for Cumbrians loan

Carlisle United are set to sign goalkeeper Tim Krul on loan from Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old Dutchman is set to join the Cumbrians just 24 hours after they lost fellow loanee Ben Alnwick following his recall by Tottenham Hotspur.

Krul, who was part of the successful Netherlands side at the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, will join the League One club on a one-month loan deal.

The keeper has made one first-team appearance for the Magpies and spent four months on loan at Scottish Premier League side Falkirk last season.

"Tim Krul is in negotiations at the moment with a view to joining United on a one-month loan deal tomorrow (Friday) morning," read a club statement.
