Injuries frustrate Thirlwell
15 Jan 2008 - 11:59:06
Carlisle United captain Paul Thirlwell has admitted that this season has been something of a nightmare due to a number of injury problems.
The 28-year-old midfielder has suffered three calf injuries already this term and has been restricted to just 14 appearances for the League One promotion hopefuls.
He told the News & Star: "I've never had a season like it. I didn't miss a day's training in pre-season, played the first five games and everything was fine.
"Then came the first five minutes at Swansea and it's just been a bit of a nightmare ever since.
"I've been quite lucky in my career in that, touch wood, I've never had anything you would class as a long-term injury.
"So this has been a bit into the unknown for me. But if you never get one of these years as a footballer I suppose you're lucky. This must be my year."
