Harte teams up with Cumbrians

Former Leeds United defender Ian Harte has joined relegation-threatened Carlisle United until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has spent time with Levante, Sunderland and Blackpool since leaving Elland Road at the end of the 2003-04 campaign.

He has been without a club since leaving Bloomfield Road in January.

United boss Greg Abbott told the News & Star: "Ian's a very experienced player. He'll bring a calmness to the back line and he's another who'll bring the younger players along."

Abbott has also snapped up Scunthorpe United midfielder Ian Morris on loan until the end of the season.
