Cumbrians suffer Raven blow

Carlisle United full-back David Raven will miss almost the whole of the rest of the season after being forced to undergo hip surgery.

The 24-year-old has been ruled out for around four months, having not featured for the Cumbrians in over a month.

Club physio Neil Dalton told the News & Star: "After further tests and having spoken to the surgeon at length about the best way forward for Dave, it's been decided that surgery on the hip is the best option.

"The surgeon expects David to make a full recovery and return to full training approximately four months after the operation takes place."

Raven moved to Brunton Park in the summer of 2006 and is one short of the 150-appearance mark for the League One outfit.
