Cumbrians reach Wembley despite scare

Carlisle progressed to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final despite falling to a 3-0 defeat against a spirited Huddersfield side.Going into the northern area final second leg trailing 4-0, the Terriers knew they faced an uphill battle to reach the showpiece finale at Wembley. And, despite Alan Lee grabbing a double in an impressive victory, they were unable to overhaul the first-leg deficit meaning the Cumbrians progress to the competition's climax for the second successive year.Clearly searching for an early goal, the Terriers dominated the opening exchanges and went ahead in the 30th minute when Anthony Pilkington fired home from 18 yards. If the Cumbrians thought the first period was bad, they came under even more pressure in the second as Huddersfield sniffed a dramatic turnaround. But, despite Lee's two bullet headers in the space of 11 minutes, Carlisle hung on to book a clash with Brentford.
