Cumbrians land Thirlwell

Carlisle United boss Neil McDonald has moved to strengthen his midfield with the loan capture of Paul Thirlwell from Derby County.
The 27-year-old former Sunderland and Sheffield United star has agreed a three-month deal at Brunton Park and McDonald believes he is capable of making a real difference to the Cumbrians' promotion push.
"This is a player who has played at a decent level for a number of years and he will be an excellent addition to our squad," he told United's official website.
"We are looking forward to working with him and we're sure that this will be a good move, both for him and for Carlisle United."
