Cumbrians keen on Krul stay

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott is still hoping to be able to extend goalkeeper Tim Krul's loan stay with the League One club.

The 20-year-old has impressed since moving to Brunton Park from Newcastle United, but the second month of his loan ends after next weekend.

Abbott told the News & Star: "Tim wants to have an impact, to help us out, and he is doing a fantastic job.

"We are in regular contact with Newcastle, they are happy with how we are dealing with things and we want to keep things going.

"But the final decision will be down to Newcastle."
