Cumbrians bring in Horwood
16 Jan 2008 - 10:38:20
Carlisle United have moved swiftly to sign Sheffield United defender Evan Horwood on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old left-back finished a loan spell with Scottish Premier League side Gretna at the weekend, but has now joined the Cumbrians on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Horwood made 17 appearances for Gretna during four months in the Scottish top-flight.
"I had my first training session this morning and the lads were getting stuck in," he told the club's official website.
"It was a very professional session and, having come from Sheffield, it really felt as though I was switching one big club for another.
"The SPL was a decent standard of football and I really enjoyed my time at Gretna.
"The only problem was that we weren't getting the results and, obviously, I've switched that about 100 per cent by coming here.
"I've come to a place which is up at the top and used to winning so I'm going to have to get my head down and give it my best shot if I want to get in to the team."
