Carlisle drought continues
Carlisle made it seven games without a win as they fought out a nervous 0-0 draw against relegation rivals Shrewsbury.
It was Carlisle's third consecutive goalless draw at Brunton Park and although both sides squandered gilt-edged chances to win it in the second half, it was Shrews who were probably more pleased to come away with a point.
Carlisle's on-loan Watford defender Reece Brown was desperately unlucky not to give his side the lead when he twice hit the bar with headers in the early stages.
Shrewsbury almost made Carlisle pay for those early misses when, after 28 minutes, Tom Eaves cut in from the left and Jordan Pickford had to be alert to scramble his shot for a corner at the near post.
Shrews missed a glaring opportunity to break the deadlock early in the second half. Jon Taylor's shot bounced off Pickford, but substitute Aaron Wildig delayed hitting the rebound into an unguarded net before finally dragging the ball wide from six yards.
Lee Miller failed to convert two great chances for Carlisle, first with an unmarked header which flew across the face of goal, then with a shot from 10 yards after a fine run and cross by Chris Chantler, but the Cumbrians again drew a blank for all their late pressure.
