Abbott seals Pericard swoop

Vincent Pericard believes he will soon be on the goal trail after signing a three-month deal with Carlisle United.

The 27-year-old former Portsmouth player has been without a club since being released by Stoke City at the end of last season.

Pericard told United's official website: "The training's been excellent and it's been good to work with the players.

"One of my qualities is scoring goals. I like to be in and around the box so we'll just have to work together as a team and hope that we continue to make the same kind of chances.

"I can be a target man or I can play with the ball on the ground, I don't mind what we do. I think I have the physical presence so I'm looking forward to getting on with the new challenge."
