Abbott predicts bright future

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott is delighted his side have propelled themselves into the top half of the League One table following a disappointing start to the campaign.

Tuesday's 3-2 home success against Hartlepool United made it seven wins out of ten in all competitions and three victories in a week.

The latest triumph has helped the gritty Blues march from 17th place into 12th ahead of their tough away trip to Gillingham on Saturday and Abbott believes it is a massive achievement.

Speaking to the News & Star, he said: "It's taken 12 months or longer to turn it around and get it going in the right direction.

"To be in the top half is an unbelievable achievement. We're now in a position to kick on and look forward to better times. A few more wins might put us on the fringes of the really exciting stuff."
