Abbott pleased despite loss

Carlisle United's beleaguered manager Greg Abbott has praised his players despite their last-gasp loss at Bristol Rovers over the weekend.

The Cumbrians had led twice during their League One showdown, but late goals by Jeff Hughes and Craig Lines helped the Pirates halt their six-match losing run at the Memorial Ground on Saturday.

Speaking to the News & Star, Abbott said: "I'm delighted with the players. They're still going in the right direction.

"I'm desperately disappointed but still quite pleased with the progress we're making.

"By saying that I'm not papering over the cracks, because there are no cracks there. It's all positives going forward."
