Abbott opts to keep Rothery

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott has signed former Leeds United midfielder Gavin Rothery on a short-term contract that lasts until the end of this season. The 21-year-old has been at Brunton Park since the beginning of January after spending brief and unsuccessful spells at York City and Harrogate Town earlier this term. Abbott said: "Gav has done well since he joined us and we've decided that he's done enough for us to keep him here until the end of the season. "He's worked hard and kept his head down, so we're happy that he's agreed to stay with us until May, and then we can take it from there."
