Abbott opts to keep Krul

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has extended his loan spell at Carlisle United into a second month.

The 20-year-old Dutchman has made five starts for Carlisle since arriving at Brunton Park in mid-November.

Boss Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "We've seen what Tim can do already, and I think he's been excellent.

"I'm delighted that we've been able to extend the loan for a second month and I think that's to the benefit of everyone concerned.

"Hopefully he'll continue to build on the performances that he's given us so far."
