Abbott opts to cuts Gall free

Carlisle United have terminated Kevin Gall's contract by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old former Newcastle United striker scored 11 goals in 76 appearances during his time at Brunton Park but has not featured in the first team for more than 15 months.

Boss Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "Kev is keen to get himself first-team football again and he knew that wasn't going to happen here.

"He's had a couple of loan spells and I think he wants something more permanent, so we wish him well as he moves on from the club.

"He's asked if he can train with us to keep on top of his fitness, and we don't see any problem with that at all, so he'll stay here until he gets himself fixed up."
