Abbott hopeful over Graham
27 Jan 2009 - 13:32:52
Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott is determined to try and keep striker Danny Graham at the club through the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old is reported to be a target for League One rivals Huddersfield Town, with Abbott hoping that Graham stays put at Brunton Park.
He told the News & Star: "I really, really want to keep Danny. He can help us with his goals and all-round performances.
"Danny is a name on everybody's lips and it would have to be ridiculous money for us to part with him.
"I'm loathe to do anything with Danny, but you never know what happens with him. The message is he's not for sale. If people want him they will have to pay.
"If he adds work-rate to his goal-scoring record then there is no reason why he can't play at the top level as he is only 23."
Graham has scored 40 goals in 96 appearances for Carlisle to date, with 16 of his strikes coming this season.
