Abbott extends Lindfield trial

Former Liverpool striker Craig Lindfield has extended his trial period at Carlisle United after impressing in their reserve team game against Blackpool this week.

Manager Greg Abbott was impressed with the 20-year-old after he scored in the 7-3 win inside seven minutes and has been offered an extended stay at Brunton Park.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "He did very well when you consider that he hasn't had much football recently.

"He showed a great first touch and he took his goal well.

"We'll have another look at him in the training session on Tuesday and he'll come back to us again next week, when we get back from the Bristol and Orient away games.

"He's done well so far, so we'll see how it goes from here."
