Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott was delighted with his side's performance in a crucial 2-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The win moved the Cumbrians eight points clear of the drop zone and able to look upwards rather than downwards for the first time in a number of weeks.

Abbott told the News & Star: "In the first half, especially, we were absolutely outstanding.

"That's how we want to play the game. At half-time we could have been out of sight by even more.

"We were a little bit shaky just into the second half, but other than that spell we were really comfortable.

"Ben Williams collected his crosses and dealt with everything he had to deal with, and we ran out comfortable winners.

"The clean sheet is priceless for us."
