Simek keen to lose captaincy role

Carlisle`s stand-in captain Frank Simek admits he is not a natural leader and will gladly hand over responsibility once club skipper Paul Thirlwell and vice-captain Danny Livesey return from injury. The 26-year-old American, who joined the Cumbrians in the summer following his release by Sheffield Wednesday, has skippered the side in the past 13 matches, with United winning six games, drawing three and losing four. He told the News and Star: "Captaincy isn't a natural thing for me. I'm a quiet lad. "A few games ago Kav [assistant manager Graham Kavanagh] had a word with me and gave me some advice, and I've taken that on. He was saying things like, `Go out there and be a leader. You're captain - assert yourself'. "That's what I'm trying to do. But the quicker people like Thirs and Danny Livesey are back the better."
