Simek honoured by captaincy

Carlisle defender Frank Simek has spoken of his joy at being named captain for the goalless draw with Brighton. The former Arsenal full-back took over the armband from Paul Thirlwell, who was missing with a knee ligament injury, and led his team to a clean sheet and a well-earned point. He told the club`s official website: "It was an honour to be captain. It was really cool to be doing it. It was my first time at first-team level and I really enjoyed it. "They're a good side and they showed that in the second half. Fair play to them they came out and played well but we were by far the better team before the break and if we'd put one of our chances away you'd fancy us. "We're unbeaten and it's a clean sheet but we are disappointed we didn't win. Hopefully we can continue playing well as we go down to Bournemouth next week."
