Rothery aims to prove a point

The 21-year-old midfielder, who was released by Leeds last summer, has signed a one-deal after impressing in pre-season for the Cumbrians. "It's a big season for me and, hopefully, I can try and push and get a first-team place," Rothery told the News and Star. "I've been given a second chance by the gaffer after being released by Leeds. That wasn't a nice experience but I've just got to work hard and try to get into the Carlisle team. I've had a few ups and downs but I'm still only young and hope to prove I'm worth another chance. "The manager has told me to go out and play and do what I'm best at, which is attacking, and hopefully I will find a way into his team."
