Livesey edging closer

Carlisle defender Danny Livesey will step up his bid for a return to first-team action following a successful run out with the reserves. Livesey, 25, has been sidelined since March due to successive hamstring and groin injuries, but came through unscathed for the reserves against Penrith on Wednesday. Club spokesman Andy Hall said: "Following Danny's six-month lay-off it's fantastic to see him get through an hour of competitive football on Wednesday night. "But he won't be setting any targets. He needs to build up his match fitness and take it from there." Hall added that skipper Paul Thirlwell, out since early September due to a knee injury, remains "another two or three weeks" away from a return to full training.
