The former Newcastle trainee, 27, made more than 75 appearances for Carlisle, scoring 11 goals. His last appearance came as a substitute during the 1-0 defeat by Doncaster in January 2008 and has had loan periods with Lincoln and Port Vale this season. Manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "Kev is keen to get himself first-team football again and he knew that wasn't going to happen for him here. "He has had a couple of loan spells and I think he wants something more permanent so we wish him well as he moves on. "He has asked if he can train with us to keep on top of his fitness and we don't see any problem with that at all so he will stay here until he gets himself fixed up."
