Duo on trial with Carlisle

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott is assessing two more trialists this week as Shamrock Rovers duo Craig Walsh and Gary Shaw aim to impress at Brunton Park. Walsh is an 18-year-old striker who joined Shamrock from Longford Town last season, whilst midfielder Shaw, also 18, has been a regular in Rovers' youth side. Abbott told the club's official website: "We've heard good things about the lads and it will be interesting to see how they get on. We'll take a look at them and we can then take it from there." Meanwhile, Abbott revealed that former Shrewsbury midfielder Jake Simpson has ended his trial period with the club. He added: "Jake had a great 10-day period with us and he is a decent player, hence the reason for keeping him here for so long. "It looks like he may have a few other options, and we couldn't guarantee him anything at this moment in time, so he's going off to have a look at those. It's been good to have him here and we wish him all the best."
