The Cumbrians agreed a fee with the Scottish Premier League club for the 25-year-old last Friday but have so far found themselves unable to speak to the former Newcastle man. "His advisers are trying to get him the best deal, which is always the case," Abbott told the News and Star. "I haven't yet spoken face-to-face with the player. We are trying to sort that situation out and get things moving, or we will move onto something else if it doesn't happen. "It is something we have got to push to make it happen because we need a boost in that area of the field." Abbott has endured a frustrating summer attempting to replace Danny Graham, with Michael Bridges and Scott Vernon having already turned him down.
