Carlisle have handed professional contracts to two youngsters from their Under-18 side. Defender Steven Swinglehurst and winger Ben McKenna have signed one-year deals with the Brunton Park outfit. Cumbrians manager Greg Abbott told the News & Star: "We need a couple of young players in the squad through the youth system if they're good enough. I think these two have got a chance. "They've got a lot of hard work to do, they're not ready for the first team yet, but with their attitude and determination we've got to give them a year to prove they can make that step up to the first team. "I'm absolutely delighted for the both of them. They've worked exceptionally hard."
