Cumbrians hopeful Raven will stay

Raven, 24, received a formal offer of a new two-year deal to stay at Brunton Park in mid May and, under Football League regulations, has exactly 30 days to respond. The former Liverpool player is contemplating the terms of the contract proposal while away on holiday, but Abbott is optimistic Raven will commit to the Cumbrians. "I had a very positive conversation with David just before he went on holiday," Abbott told the club's official website. "I am very hopeful from the way the chat went that we will get a good response from him when he returns, but, as with all of these situations, we just have to wait and see." Meanwhile, Abbott also confirmed that Blackburn right-back Tony Kane, 21, has verbally agreed terms on a two-year deal that would see him move to Brunton Park permanently. "We now have to wait until he is clear of his commitments with Blackburn, but we don't see that as a problem at all." Abbott said.
