Cumbrians continue striker hunt

The Cumbrians are short on numbers in attack ahead of the start of the season following the departure of Danny Graham to Watford and they also missed out on their former striker Karl Hawley, who elected to sign for Notts County instead. Abbott told the club's official website: "I am very disappointed that we missed out on the Premiership striker that we had been talking to. "We are now back to work on finding a forward who will add to and improve on what we already have. Ideally we would have someone in for Saturday, but I am confident that the players who are here already are ready to go. "It has been very frustrating for us that we haven't been able to bring a frontman in, particularly having gone so close a number of times, but it remains a priority for us and we will continue to follow up on conversations and work that has already been done."
