The former Republic of Ireland international put in a man-of-the-match display as Lewis Neal's opener was cancelled out by Luke Guttridge at Brunton Park.

"He (Harte) has earned a lot of money in his career, but he hasn't come here for the money," said Abbott.

"He wants to help us out and we might just have sneaked a bargain once we get him fully fit.

"His tackle near the end when we lost the ball from a corner clinched man of the match for him. We had to throw him straight in and it was a good decision. Ian is a good footballer and a joy to watch."

The Cumbrians remain threatened by relegation but Abbott added: "I'm delighted with the performance and the attitude."
