Cumbrians boss happy to hold fire

The Cumbrians narrowly avoided relegation with a final-day victory over Millwall and Abbott is prepared to wait before bolstering his squad. "We know that we would like to bring a left-sided player in and we have three that we have identified already," he told the club's official website. "It's fair to say that we also have a few midfield players on the radar but we want to be patient and make sure that we have looked at all of our avenues before we make a decision. "I'm not really interested in getting signings made as quickly as I can because what I do want is to make sure that I sign the best players that I can. "Sometimes you find that you might be better off waiting and looking at how other situations develop before you make your move so I am happy to be patient. "My focus is on finalising and assembling a squad at the right time and with the right kind of quality and that's why I won't be dashing into the market when there could be better players who will appear as we go through pre-season."
