Cooper set for Cumbrians bow

Carlisle are expected to hand a debut to new loan signing Liam Cooper in the home clash with Bristol Rovers. Centre-half Lubo Michalik has returned to parent club Leeds, James Chester, on loan from Manchester United, has completed a permanent move to Hull and Danny Livesey is not yet ready to return from a long-term groin injury, so midfielder Paul Thirlwell was forced to stand in at the heart of defence in last weekend's FA Cup defeat at Torquay. Cooper, signed this week from Hull, will be joined in the squad by another 19-year-old, Sunderland midfielder Liam Noble. Both players have joined for an initial month. Left-back Thomas Cruise has returned to Arsenal after his two-month loan spell and striker Mike Grella is back at Leeds, but recent midfield signing Marco Gbarssin made his debut off the bench last week and is hoping for his first start.
