The former Newcastle goalkeeper joined non-league Workington in 2004, but spent the majority of the 2008/09 campaign training with the Cumbrians. He told the club's official website: "I'm really glad to be here. It's a massive time for me and it's what I've been working for ever since I started playing football. "There have been a few ups and downs along the way, but it's great to finally sign my first professional contract. "It's a big step up because Workington only train part-time so the pace, power and fitness levels are completely different here. It's a move that I feel really comfortable with making and I'm looking forward to pushing Ben [Williams] all the way for the starting place. "I've made a lot of friends in my five years at Workington and I had a great time there. In some ways it was very difficult to have to leave but this is what I want to do and it's a fantastic opportunity for me."
