The on-loan Manchester City youngster produced a moment of real quality in the League One encounter at Brunton Park to grab his first league goal and push his side further towards manager Greg Abbott's points target.

Clayton sent a half-volley dipping over Alex McCarthy from 20 yards after the Yeovil goalkeeper had punched out Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's corner.

Clayton said: "It's been a wait for that first goal and it's come in some style. It sat up perfect and I hit it cleanly. The keeper was off his line a couple of yards and it dipped over him into the back of the net. It's one for the scrapbook.

"We played some good stuff, but could not get the breakthrough. However we kept our concentration. We have lost those sort of games in the past."

Abbott added: "It was a massive win for us and takes us to 47 points. Fifty points was our first objective and we still have nine games to go. We showed our toughness. We had to up our game in the second half and I'm delighted to grind out a 1-0 for a change."
