Clayton could still return to Carlisle

Clayton joined on a short-term loan deal at the start of November and has impressed manager Greg Abbott, who revealed that new City boss Roberto Mancini was keen to assess the 20-year-old's progress.[LNB]Manager Greg Abbott told his club's official website: "There is a new management team in place there and they have told us that they would like to keep hold of him for two weeks so that they can have a closer look at him.[LNB]"We have an excellent relationship with City and we will continue to monitor Adam ourselves as he works there with them. We will be able to discuss that situation further once Manchester City have completed their assessment of the player."[LNB]Carlisle have the option to extend Clayton's loan deal for a further one-month period or to complete a half-season loan deal that would keep him at Brunton Park until the end of the season.[LNB][LNB]
