The promising youngster has opted to go to university in Florida rather than pursue a professional football career with the Blues. Duffy was followed through the Brunton Park exit door by fellow second-year academy player John Seaton, who left by mutual consent after being told he would not be offered a full-time deal. United had not reached a final decision on Duffy's future but the player expressed a desire to leave. Youth coach Eric Kinder told the News & Star: "Matt is a very intelligent boy and it is a fantastic opportunity for him. "As for John, he struggled to hold down a place in the youth team and decided he wants to pursue other interests. I think he could go to America as well. We have parted company on good terms and wish both of them well."
