Carlisle boss Keith Curle hoping to have Charlie Wyke fit to face Hartlepool

Carlisle boss Keith Curle will hope to have striker Charlie Wyke fit after his knee injury proved to be less serious than was first feared.

Wyke missed the 3-0 victory at Morecambe last weekend after being carried from the field on a stretcher during the 2-0 Checkatrade win over Blackburn's Under-23s four days earlier, but tests revealed only minor damage and Curle is hopeful he will feature.

Jabo Ibehre and Shaun Miller joined forces in the frontman's absence at the Globe Arena, although it was Danny Grainger's opener and a Jason Kennedy double which claimed the points.

The win at Morecambe extended Carlisle's unbeaten start to the season to 12 games and one more would equal the club's record unbeaten run.

Hartlepool manager Craig Hignett will be able to call upon keeper Trevor Carson and central defender Liam Donnelly after their returns from international duty with Northern Ireland's senior and Under-21s teams respectively.

However, he will be without midfielder Nicky Featherstone as he completes the three-game ban imposed for his red card in last month's 1-1 home draw with Luton.

Michael Woods could return to contention after playing more than an hour for the reserves in midweek following his recovery from an Achilles problem, while fellow midfielder Nicky Deverdics is also hopeful of shaking off the thigh injury which forced him off during last weekend's 1-1 draw with Crawley.

But defenders Matthew Bates (bone bruising) and Rob Jones (hip) and striker Bradley Fewster (hamstring) remain on the sidelines.
