Duo out for Cumbrians

Carlisle will be without loanee defenders Tom Anderson and Connor Brown for their home game against Cambridge.

Centre-half Anderson and right-back Brown have returned to respective parent clubs Burnley and Oldham, so Courtney Meppen-Walter could revert back to central defence following his recent switch to a midfield role.

Midfielder Brad Potts (toe) has been playing with the aid of painkilling injections in recent weeks, while defender Troy Archibald-Henville continues to nurse a troublesome knee. Both players will be monitored.

Striker Billy Paynter (Achilles) remains sidelined and although midfield pair Danny Kearns and Alex Marrow are back with the squad, neither is expected to feature.

Cambridge remain without loan striker Kwesi Appiah after he was called up for Ghana's African Cup of Nations squad.

The Crystal Palace forward has been named in Avram Grant's final 23-man squad after scoring on his debut in a 3-0 win over Portuguese side Olhanense in a friendly on Wednesday.

Appiah's loan was due to come to an end after the trip to Brunton Park.

Cambridge are also without Ryan Donaldson, Harrison Dunk and Tom Elliott with no date on a return for any of the trio.
