Impressive Minstermen climb clear

An impressive performance from York saw them run out comfortable 3-0 winners over Carlisle at Brunton Park to move four points clear of the relegation zone.

The Minstermen were by far the better team from start to finish, with the home side barely forcing a save out of City goalkeeper Alex Cisak.

Jake Hyde sent an early warning side to the Cumbrians when he was able to chest down a long ball and fire a shot inches wide of Dan Hanford's left-hand post from 20 yards.

The deadlock was broken in the 44th minute when Femi Ilesanmi found space on the left and his cross was flicked on by Wes Fletcher to an unmarked Josh Carson who sent his half-volley from six yards beyond Hanford.

The home side picked up slightly after the break and Mark Beck saw a flicked header spilled but then recovered by Cisak as Steven Rigg waited to pounce.

It was a short lived recovery though as Luke Summerfield curled the ball into the top corner from 20 yards to double York's lead in the 63rd minute.

The visitors continued to dominate and got further reward with nine minutes to go when Carlton Morris shielded the ball for Michael Coulson who made it 3-0 with a shot into the top corner from 10 yards out.
