The former Newcastle man joined the club from Hamilton last month but has failed to cement a place in Abbott's side since then, with his only start so far coming in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Morecambe.

However, with winger Kevan Hurst struggling with a ankle injury, Abbott could move Scott Dobie or Joe Anyinsah to the right of midfield, allowing Offiong to take his place up front.

On-loan midfielder Tom Taiwo could also force his way into Abbott's thinking for the trip to Boundary Park but the game will come too soon for defender Richard Keogh (ankle), who is only just returning to non-contact training.
